The Maccoux Family Story

Want to find out more about Hydrocephalus ?

Want to find out more about Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome ?

Having one chronically ill child is something most of us would never want to think about. The thought of seeing your own child, or any child for that matter, suffering in pain or battling a disease is beyond what our minds can handle. That being said, now - imagine having two chronically ill children.

For most of us, even the mere thought of this is unfathomable. For Cathy and Dan Maccoux of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, this is not only a cruel reality - it's their life.

Cathy and Dan have three beautiful girls, Amanda (24), Traci (20) and Olivia (14). Two out of the three girls suffer from serious medical conditions which, throughout the last 13 years, have required nearly 100 major surgeries, countless trips to the ER, cabinets full of medications and lengthy hospital stays. Some of these stays have landed both girls in the hospital at the same time, but at two different hospitals in two different cities.

When Traci & Olivia are healthy - both girls are happy, funny, talented and loving girls. You would never know the trauma they have been through by looking at them. The same goes for Cathy, Dan and Amanda, they always give you that same friendly hello, optimistic outlook, and warm smile. They are the ones asking you, "How are you doing?" and are truly interested in hearing your answer no matter their situation at the time - like when they're in the hospital, waiting for one of the girls to come out of surgery.
